You know, sometimes with all the crap I'm being put through with financial aid, health problems, and just general bullshitting, just so I can tool 80 hours a week on a bunch of excessively difficult classes, it becomes extremely tempting to just drop out of school permanently and get a full-time job. It's easier, less stressful, and I can play video games when I get home rather than studying into the night.

People always say you'll regret it later, particularly because so many jobs seem to want a bachelor's in something, so you might want to stick it out. However, it might be worth considering changing majors, changing schools, or going part time (though MIT doesn't really allow the part-time thing).

But if you look at Basis Technology management people (http://www.basistech.com/company/management.html), you'll notice how the CEO was ``educated'' at MIT; I believe he didn't actually ever quite graduate. And it's not exactly like the client list leaves one with the impression that being the CEO of a company that has big corporations as clients quite requires a degree...

It's true. It's not always needed. In fact, after you've built up professional experience people don't care about your degree very much. But it can be a big help, particularly when you're trying to get your career started or the job market is tough, and not having it will close off some opportunities.
