Aug. 12th, 2004 10:36 amI have a tough choice as far as living options go.
Option 1: Studio Apartment, $725/mo including utilities
Pros:
Near a T stop
Fairly large
Clean
Good appliances
Cat-allergic friends can visit me
My own cat allergies won't be triggered
Cons:
Expensive
Will be living alone
Not much useful stuff nearby
Will have to pay extra for internet
Single room
Option 2: 4-bedroom house, $500/mo including utilities
Pros:
Nice area
Lots of convenient stores and services
Bus stop right by house
Clean
Cool roommates (at least the two who are already there)
Nice big 3-story house
Damn cheap
Near an awesome BBQ place as well as a nifty little store where I can get gyros meat
Cons:
Far from a T stop
The other person they're considering also has a cat, which will negate all the benefits of my siberian (I either keep them both out of my room or wake up with hives, few friends can visit).
Basically, the second option is *perfect* except for the other potential roommate. Now, they do have other people interested, but I can't be sure they won't pick this guy anyway. What can I do? I don't really want to be in allergy hell, but the place is so awesome otherwise. I've explained to them that I'd really prefer that my sibe be the only cat, since I am allergic to most cats, but I don't know if or how I could persuade them to pick one of the other people. Especially because most people don't really understand "I'm allergic to cats, but not this one." Now that I have insurance, I can get better allergy meds, but that still doesn't help if I want to have friends over.
If anybody has any advice, I'd be very grateful.
